LEE NOVAK netted twice as Huddersfield Town came back from two down to clinch a draw in their Under 21 clash with Wigan at the DW Stadium.

Both goals were created by Israel Johnson, who made his mark after going on as a substitute in the 70th minute.

Town included four players who were on the bench in Saturday’s Championship clash with Peterborough – Novak, Joel Lynch, Tom Clarke and Chris Atkinson.

They struggled to find any form in the first half, when Danny Redmond, with a well-struck free-kick, and Joshua Sumner scored for Wigan.

The game turned on the introduction of first-year professional Johnson.

The 18-year-old Johnson’s first involvement was to prevent Town falling further behind by blocking Ryan Watson’s close-range effort.

He then came to the fore as he collected a through ball and forced Marco Marosi into a save with the rebound falling to Novak to tap home.

Johnson then earned a penalty which Novak converted.

Jordan Sinnott almost grabbed a winner with 12 minutes to play, but the midfielder’s long-range free-kick hit a post.
