ALAN LEE remained upbeat as he delivered his verdict on Town’s goalless draw with Swindon at the Galpharm.

Lee Clark’s promotion chasers were frustrated as referee Chris Sarginson turned down claims that injury-time efforts by Peter Clarke and Jamie McCombe had crossed the line.

Earlier both Jordan Rhodes and substitute Lee hit the bar while skipper Clarke had a header cleared off the line.

It means Town, unbeaten in 17 league games, could be pushed out of the automatic promotion places by Peterborough, who play at MK Dons tonight in one of their two games in hand.

And Southampton are three points behind Town with three games in hand after seeing off Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at St Mary’s.

But Lee insisted: “Games in hand certainly aren’t points in the can, and we will try to take advantage of a longer period between matches.

“There’s a lot of football still to go, we’re looking solid at the back, we’ve shown we can win games and we’ll keeping going right to the wire.

“The Swindon match was frustrating because we created some good chances and there were several times we could have scored.

“The lads were adamant that we had the ball over the line, but the referee didn’t give the decisions so we just have to take it on the chin.”

Town are next in action in Sunday’s Sky-televised home clash with Notts County.
