Huddersfield Town's derby victory at Elland Road has sent the rumour mill into overdrive about the future of Leeds United boss Steve Evans.

David Wagner's side ran out 4-1 winners with three goals in nine second-half minutes - Harry Bunn, Karim Matmour and Nahki Wells adding to Mark Hudson's first half equaliser.

And reports earlier in the week suggested owner Massimo Cellino was ready to axe Evans following the defeat, with a foreign coach ready to take over in the summer.

The Italian has sacked Brian McDermott, Dave Hockaday, Darko Milanic, Neil Redfearn and Uwe Rosler since arriving at Elland Road in July 2014.

However, Cellino has handed Evans a stay of execution, saying there won't be a change until the end of the season - but he hasn't ruled out a new man taking the reins then.

“I'm a very sad man with the results this season but sometimes I'm not happy with my wife and I don't divorce her, so I'm certainly not looking to replace Steve Evans at the moment," Cellino told Sky Sports.

“I won't make any changes until the end of the season. Then I will look at how the whole season went and make a decision.”

World Cup-winning Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro is the latest to be linked with the role.

The former defender recently stepped down from the manager's job at Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Nassr and has been mooted as assistant to Fabio Capello if the former England boss takes over as head of the Italian national side following the European Championships.

Evans, who replaced Rosler last October, is on a rolling contract at Leeds.
