FT: Accrington Stanley 0 Huddersfield Town 1
The whistle blows for full-time and it’s a good work-out for David Wagner’s men in their first pre-season game ahead of their debut Premier League campaign. Stick with us for all the post-match reaction and analysis.
88 Minutes: The Stanley keeper could arguably have been at fault for Town’s goal but he has certainly made amends this half - this time denying Nahki Wells from close range.
86 Minutes: Laurent Depoitre earns a free-kcik for Town around 25-yards from goal.....Ince’s curling effort is expertly palmed away by Stanley stopper Aaron Chapman. Could easily have been two.
83 Minutes: Mekhi McLeod whips an effort just past Coleman’s goal from distance - they’re certainly not out of this one.
Is it too early in the pre-season to make such bold predictions as this...?
78 Minutes: Stanley are still pushing Town hard and makeshift right-back Harry Bunn does well to head away a dangerous cross into the box under pressure from Jonny Edwards.
74 Minutes: As predicted, Kasey Palmer comes on the field - he replaces Mark Hudson with Martin Cranie moving into the heart of defence alongside Dean Whitehead, Harry Bunn moves to right-back.
Accrington have just brought on Rommy Boco - he’s a Benin international, just like Town’s Steve Mounie...Unusual to have two feature in one game in England.
The attacking midfielder is warming-up in front of the press box - believe he is due to get 10-15 minutes run-out tonight as he still recovers from the hamstring injury which hampered him at the end of last season....
And it’s still Accrington Stanley 0 Huddersfield Town 1....
59 Minutes: Accrington come again in what is turning out to be a spicy second-half encounter - this time Mark Hudson makes a last-ditch challenge to deny Clark after Town keeper Joel Coleman could only parry an effort.
57 Minutes: Stanley are not too disheartened by that goal though and nearly register a quick reply - Jordan Clark slips ‘a Trialist’ in on goal but Dean Whitehead recovers well.
Accrington Stanley 0 Huddersfield Town 1
56 Minutes: He’s been brought in for his goals as well as assists and he’s got off the mark tonight - Tom Ince prods home from close range at the second time of asking.
Tonight’s official attendance has been announced as 1,663 - a lot from West Yorkshire in that figure as well but no exact number of away support given...
47 Minutes: Stanley nearly take the lead - McConville whips a teasing set-piece into the area but substitute Omar Beckles heads just wide.
Still the trusted 4-2-3-1 formation but with Dean Whitehead partnering Mark Hudson at the back in this 45 minutes....
Second-Half Town Team
And it’s all change for the second 45 minutes....
Here’s something to kill the time until the second 45 minutes....How well do you remember Huddersfield Town’s last season in the top flight?
HT: Accrington Stanley 0 Huddersfield Town 0
The whistle blows for the end of the first 45 minutes - it won’t live long in the memory but it’s been a good work-out so far for David Wagner’s men.
43 Minutes: Sean McColville whips a deep free-kick into the area and it’s met by ‘a Trialist’ who glances just wide.
39 Minutes: The home side are certainly not out of this as Janoi Donacien clips an effort over the bar.
This man will get them going in the second 45 minutes...
35 Minutes: Jonas Lossl halts Billy Kee in the area after sloppy play from Scott Malone - he takes a knock for his efforts but appears to be OK.
33 Minutes: Billing is brought down for a free-kick 25 yards out - his resultant effort clips the wall.....Town, despite all the possession, are struggling to stamp their authority on proceedings in the middle of the pitch. Really need someone to grab the game by the throat and dictate play.
