It’s all over in Russia and despite a spirited display, the Socceroos have narrowly lost to the Germans in Sochi - in truth the Germans were dominate throughout but poor goalkeeping from Bernd Leno set-up a tricky finale for the World Champions....

66 Minutes: In all the excitement of Australia’s second goal, nearly missed Wagner leaving the field to be replaced by Timo Werner.
Video Assistant Referee (VAR)
Well that was the first use of the new technology in this game - it’s a death knell for football as we know it.
Australia 2 Germany 3

Aaron Mooy Comment Piece
If all goes according to plan, how Aaron Mooy’s move is a real sign of intent from Huddersfield Town.
HT: Australia 1 Germany 2
Well that was an exciting end to the opening 45 minutes with Australia equalising fortuitously through Rogic only for Draxler to restore Germany’s lead from the penalty spot minutes later.
Mooy’s been rather anonymous so far as Australia have generally struggled against a dominate German side...

Aaron Mooy View
Like the majority of the Australian side, Mooy is struggling to get a foot in the game - often being forced to go deeper in search of the ball. All Germany at the moment but still only got the one goal to show for it...
27 Minutes: A rampant Germany come forward again, finding players in space with consummate ease - this time Australian stopper Mat Ryan makes a great diving save to deny a long-range strike from Brandt....

Is this a dig at burly forward Sandro Wagner?
