Table-toppers Huddersfield Town travel to Berkshire this afternoon to face fellow in-form Championship side Reading FC.

Although David's Wagner's side sit proudly at the summit of the SkyBet Championship after a record-breaking start to the season, the Head Coach will be keen to get back to winning ways on the road.

Town's first league defeat of the season came in their last away outing – a howler from goalkeeper Danny Ward gifting hosts Brighton & Hove Albion all three points at the Amex Arena.

But it was a return to winning ways last weekend at the John Smith's Stadium as Town recorded an impressive 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers.

However, Reading are likely to pose a much stronger test for the Terriers – extending their unbeaten run to six games in all competition on Tuesday evening, defeating Brighton 2-1 in the Third Round of the League Cup.

Signing Off

Well that’s it for today’s LIVE Blog in what has been a disappointing day for Huddersfield Town.

But the team, staff and fans can all leave Berkshire with their heads held high after a fantastic second-half performance after being down to ten men.

Join us again on Tuesday evening when David Wagner’s side will have a chance to bounce back at home to Rotherham United.

Until then, keep following the Examiner website, the Examiner Town Facebook page and@ExaminerHTAFC for all the latest Town news, views and opinion.

FT: Reading FC 1 Huddersfield Town 0

Ten-men Town will be going back to West Yorkshire empty-handed after a Roy Beerens goal was enough to separate the two sides - and that was the only difference today took...a brave brave effort from Town in the second-half.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, David Wagner’s men were sensational second half - really took the game to Reading and deserved something from the game.

Hold your head up high boys!

That's it!!

And that is it - that header was the last action of the game as the referee blows the final whistle...some of the Town players are down on their knees.

That was such a brave effort being down to 10-men for a large part of the game...

Launched In....

Red shirts are queuing up in the box as Tommy Smith delivers the ball but Kachunga’s header is saved by Al Habsi....

  • Share

One Last Push...

Surely just another minute remaining as Nahki Wells blazes over the bar....Al Habsi will no doubt take his time with this goal kick!!

  • Share

HEFELE!!

Aaron Mooy has time to cross on the right, but the Big German fluffs his lines - heading the ball into the ground and out for a Reading throw in....

  • Share

End To End

Chris Schindler intercepts before sending Tommy Smith away, surging at the Reading defence his cross goes through Wells’ legs - a decent connection and that would have been the equaliser right there!

  • Share

Added Time

Five minutes to be added on.....Town are pushing....C’MON LADS!!

  • Share

89th Minute

Still Reading 1 Huddersfield Town 0

  • Share

Chance!!

I’m roaring the lads on here in the Press Box - they deserve something from this second-half display. So brave down to 10 men with decisions going against them...

Kachunga drives forwards, crosses to Hefele who flicks it onto Wells but he fires over!

Town the much better team here - deserve a draw but will they get it?

  • Share

Cometh the Hour...

Well not quite, it’s the 79th minute but the man is on....Michael Hefele replaces Lowe and the centre back is immediately thrown upfront...Substitute Harry Bunn is now substituted too - replaced by Martin Cranie

  • Share

Corner....

To Town - David Wagner’s men really bringing the fight to the home side...

  • Share

Fan Reaction

Definitely - but the ill-discipline looks like it could cost them, perhaps not only in this game but forthcoming ones with the suspensions racking up...

  • Share

Fighting Spirit

Town are creating the better openings - despite being down to 10-men! Tommy Smith finds Kachunga who whips in a low cross but it’s behind everyone...

Reading reduced to counter-attacks at the moment - even with the man advantage.

C’mon Town - salvage something here....

  • Share

Another Booking!!!

Think it will be easier to tally up who hasn’t been booked this afternoon for Town - Elias Kachunga is fouled inside Reading’s half but is booked for dissent...

  • Share

Chance!

Despite being on the racks and down to ten-men, Town are making a real go of it here - Nahki Well’s cross-cum-shot from the wide right has Al Habsi worried who has to tip it away for a corner...

  • Share

Suspensions Looming

And the skipper is also now booked for that challenge - that’s his fifth of the season which means he will be suspended for Tuesday’s game.

Doug has informed me that Lowe’s was also the fifth of the season - so the full-back will be missing too.

And of course, Rajiv van La Parra...it just gets better and better.

Meanwhile...

Wells is back on his feet and the resultant free-kick is cleared by Reading who start a counter - Town look short at the back and Mark Hudson lunges in to break up the play...

  • Share

Attendance

Official Attendance given as 17,030 with 1,349 making the trip from West Yorkshire.

  • Share

Ouch!

Chris Gunter completely flattens Nahki Wells who is clear on goal but the full-back gets away with a yellow!! He was last man as well...

Cries of ‘You Don’t Know What You’re Doing’ ring out from the Town fans. And I would have to agree!

Second Half

We’re underway again here at the Madejski Stadium - into the 53rd minute of what has so far been a low-key start to the second-half.

Reading are playing the ball around nicely at the back and Town are happy for them to do that.

  • Share

IT Issues

Apologies - we are having a load of issues here....we lost connectivity just before half-time and been struggling to get it back since...

Still 1-0 to Reading though....

  • Share

Deadlock Broken!!

Ryan Beerens puts the home side in front - Harriott got free down the right before dinking a cross over for the midfielder to rifle home...

The floodgates could open now if Town are not careful - down to 10-men and the Royals have their tails up...

  • Share

Fan Reaction

He’s certainly not having a good one so far Sarah!

  • Share

Speculative

Swift tries another 25 yard shot but this time it’s straight at Danny Ward - do the Royals think the young stopper is susceptible after the last away game at Brighton?

  • Share

Tasty...

Ironic cheers from the Town fans as now Obita is booked for wrestling Kachunga to the ground...

  • Share

Post!!

It’s real backs-against-the-walls for Town now as John Swift picks up the ball 25 yards out and unleashes a rasping shot which has Dannny Ward beaten but not the post. Phew!
