Liverpool’s Wales international goalkeeper Danny Ward is on Huddersfield Town’s radar.

But sources suggest there is still work to be done on any deal to bring in the 22-year-old on loan.

Reports are rife that the former Wrexham player is set for a season-long stay at the John Smith’s Stadium.

What’s certain is that Town are in the market for two keepers.

That’s because current loan stopper Jed Steer will return to parent club Aston Villa after Saturday’s final Championship game at home to Brentford.

Meanwhile Joe Murphy is likely to be out until October after shoulder surgery.

And there’s no doubt Ward, who made his second Liverpool appearance in Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League defeat at Swansea City, would fit the bill.

He is just back at Anfield after a loan spell with Aberdeen, where he played 29 times and kept 13 clean sheets.

Last season, he had a stint at League II Morecambe.

Ward, who joined Liverpool for £100,000 in January 2012 and is under contract until 2020, worked with Town’s head of football operations Stuart Webber at both Wrexham and Anfield.

And the friendship between Town head coach David Wagner and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is well documented.

Ward’s Wales debut came from the bench in the 1-1 friendly draw against Northern Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium in March.

He previously played for the Under 17s and 19s and is a current member of the Under 21 squad.

Klopp praised Ward after both Sunday’s Swansea cash and his Reds debut in last month’s 2-1 win at Bournemouth.
