Chris Powell watched Jamie Paterson score his 30th career goal and first for Huddersfield Town to seal the 2-0 home win over MK Dons and said: “He’ll do well for this club.”

The manager says the on-loan 23-year-old forward will get the chance to build on his four appearances since switching from Nottingham Forest.

Town host Forest’s arch-rivals Derby County on Saturday, then after a trip to Burnley seven days later, go to Reading on Tuesday, November 3 before the lunchtime derby against Leeds United on Saturday 7.

“It’s a big spell for us and it’s good to have Jamie, who has been patient, available and pushing hard for inclusion,” said Powell.

“He has regularly been in the 18, and I started him against Cardiff City. When he came out of the side, we won the next couple.

“He got involved off the bench in one of those games (the 4-1 home victory over Bolton Wanderers).

“Then he was ineligible against Forest, his parent club, but he came on against Wolves, and obviously against MK Dons.

“Jamie has been here seven games, played in four and been on the bench in two. The other, he couldn’t be involved in.

“He will get minutes and starts in the future for sure, he has shown some quality and he will do well for us.”

Paterson has scored 13 times for Forest after netting 16 goals for his first club Walsall, where he came through the youth system and played until 2013.
