Anthony Gerrard is eyeing a second victory in the colours of Oldham Athletic when he makes his home debut in Tuesday’s derby duel with Rochdale.

The Huddersfield Town centre-back who joined the Latics on loan last week helped them win 1-0 at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday to climb to 13th in League I.

It was only a second start of the season for the 29-year-old former Cardiff City player, the other coming in Town’s 1-0 home defeat by Birmingham City in December.

Gerrard has also made three appearances from the bench this term, taking his total tally of Town games to 91 since joining in August 2012.

The ex-Everton and Walsall player is out of contract at the end of the season, and both he and Town have confirmed he will be moving on.

It was a first win in four for Oldham, who had lost their previous three games running under caretaker manager Dean Holden.

“The three points is massive for us,” said Holden. “We’ve struggled a bit to get results, so it’s a fantastic win.

“But more than that, it’s a performance you want to be associated with, it had a bit of everything.

“There’s been a lot of work going on behind the scenes and when you don’t get the results, people ask questions.

“But it’s nice for it all to be coming together.”

Rochdale are eighth after a 3-1 home win over Scunthorpe United, managed by former Town boss Mark Robins.

Scunthorpe, in 17th, go to play-off chasers Sheffield United in Tuesday’s other League I game.

Gerrard is one of four Town players currently out on loan.

Adam Hammill is at Championship rivals Rotherham United, Jon Stead at League I Bradford City and Daniel Carr at League II Dagenham & Redbridge.

Wideman Hammill still has a year to go on his current Town deal.

Strikers Stead and Carr are both out of contract this summer.
