Huddersfield Town hot shot Nahki Wells is determined to help fire Bermuda further along the World Cup 2018 trail when they face Guatemala over two legs next month.

The 14-goal top-scorer netted three times for his country as they beat Bahamas 8-0 on aggregate in the CONCACAF qualifying first round in March.

Now Bermuda go to Guatemala on Friday, June 12 before the second leg takes place at their national stadium in Hamilton on Monday 15.

There are three knockout rounds in total before the first of two mini-league phases.

Bermuda, coached by Andrew Bascome and skippered by Wells, will warm up for their Guatemala games by playing Puerto Rico in Hamilton on Saturday, June 6.

“Guatemala stand in front of us and it’s going to be a tough fixture,” said Wells, Town’s club-record £1.3m signing from Bradford City.

“We said all along it was going to be tough to get to the group stages, but that’s our target and that’s our goal.”
