LUKE BECKETT has been reunited with an old Town teammate after joining Worksop Town on loan from Gainsborough Trinity.

For the UniBond League Tigers are managed by Martin McIntosh, who is currently dealing with an injury crisis.

Striker Beckett, pictured, who left Town for Conference North club Gainsborough in November 2008, is with Worksop until the end of the season.

He goes straight into the squad for today’s game against FC United of Manchester at Gigg Lane and McIntosh said: “I’ve been thinking about another striker for a while now.

“With the injury situation we have, I decided to go for Luke. I’ve known him for years and played with him, and I know there was a lot of interest in him as a loan signing so I’m delighted.”

Beckett, 34, said: “I’ve not been playing at Gainsborough and I’ve not really been coming on as a substitute, so I went to the manager (Brian Little) and asked if I could sort something out.

“I know Martin McIntosh really well, we used to travel in together at Huddersfield, and we’ve always kept in touch.

“I just want to play again, because sitting on the bench is not how I want to finish my career, and I think I still have another couple of seasons in me.

“I’ve scored a few for Gainsborough since moving there and if I’m playing, and get full match fitness, then the goals will follow.”
