Mark Lillis has been confirmed in charge of Huddersfield Town for Saturday’s clash with Charlton Athletic at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Club officials hope a big crowd will turn up to support Lillis and his young charges following the excellent 2-1 in at Reading on Tuesday night.

It would seem unlikely, therefore, that owner-chairman Dean Hoyle will appoint a new manager before the game against the Addicks – although Town continue to conduct interviews.

Chris Powell, formerly in charge at Charlton, is the new bookies favourite to succeed Mark Robins on a permanent basis.

After Charlton, Nottingham Forest are next at the stadium on Tuesday for the Capital One Cup second-round tie, before Town head to Watford on Saturday week in the league.

There has been no further update on Oliver Norwood’s proposed £1.2m move to Reading, although he was said to be due for a medical at the Madejski Stadium at some point today.
