Jonathan Hogg returns to Watford on Saturday with Huddersfield Town manager Mark Robins urging: “Show everyone what you’re all about.”

Town paid the Hornets £400,000 for the energetic midfielder shortly before the start of a Championship campaign which will bring a final placing of 17th or 18th.

Like the team as a whole, the 25-year-old has been hit and miss.

But as he prepared to take his side South for an overnight stay before a 12.15 start at Vicarage Road, Robins said: “Hoggy is going to be an important player for us.

“He has excellent fitness levels, he closes the opposition down well and he tackles well, and I know we haven’t seen the best of him yet.

“His confidence had dipped a little at times, but it will come back, and I have no worries abut him.”

Robins will also take Hogg’s fellow midfielder Philip Billing to Hertfordshire after handing the 17-year-old a debut against Leicester last week.

Town aim to bounce back after a 2-0 defeat by the champions and the manager, who watched 13th-placed Watford suffer a third defeat running as they lost 3-1 at Charlton on Tuesday, added: “It might be the final game of the season, but the players certainly haven’t got their flip flops on yet.

“I want to see energy, enthusiasm, appetite and desire, and I obviously I want to see us win against a talented team with a very good home record.”
