Flo Bojaj headed the winner as Huddersfield Town Under 21s went through to the next round of the Development League Cup.

He pounced to score from Jordan Sinnott’s 48th-minute corner to earn Frankie Bunn’s side a 1-0 win over Barnsley at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The home side were in complete control in the first half, with the clearest chance coming following Ben Atkinson intercepting the ball in Barnsley’s half and then finding Matt Crooks inside the box, but his shot rattled the woodwork.

Daniel Carr – who failed to make strong contact with an early back-post cross – went very close to doubling the Terriers’ lead straight after Bojaj’s goal. After having rounded the keeper he decided to shoot from a tight angle only to hit the outside of the post.

The defensive pairing of Joe Wright and Joe Wilkinson gave Town a foundation to build upon, to the frustration of the visitors.

As a testament to how well the defence performed, Barnsley registered their first shot on target only in the 82nd minute, following a free-kick from outside the box.

Barnsley tried to mount some pressure towards the end of the match, with Dom McHale going the closest as he broke free on the right-hand side, but his shot never tested Lloyd Allinson in the Town goal.
