Matt Glennon is the latest call-up for Sunday’s Huddersfield Town celebrity cricket day at Armitage Bridge.

A selection of Town Wembley heroes and current boss Mark Robins will play in a charity match to raise funds for the club’s Foundation.

Glennon will take the place of Simon Trevitt, who has had to withdraw, in the game, which is the centrepiece of a family day at the Dean Brook ground which it’s hope will raise plenty of money for the cause.

Town Ambassador Andy Booth is donning the whites alongside Coronation Street stars Chris Fountain (Tommy Duckworth) and Mikey North (Gary Windass).

Robins will present prizes for the Under 9 Tournament which starts the day’s proceedings at 10.30, and he will play in a Twenty20 game at 2.00 between a Town XI and an Ex-players and Guests side. Robins will be in the Town team with chairman Dean Hoyle, director Sean Jarvis, coaches Steve Taylor, Darren Robinson and Mark Lillis and matchday announcer Paul Ramsden.

On the other side will be Booth, Fountain and North, plus former players Iain Dunn, Darren Bullock, Jon Dyson, Rob Edwards, Kevin Gray, Chris Billy, Glennon and special guest Arnie Sidebottom.

Umpires will be club chief executive Nigel Clibbens and former director Stuart Bragan.

“We are hoping loads of people will come down and enjoy the entertainment,” said Booth.

“The Under 9 tournament will be great to watch and then people can stay on and see the lads and the staff, including the manager, playing a Twenty20.”

There will be a raffle with Town merchandise and a signed Yorkshire cricket bat, a bouncy castle, football skills test, face painting and refreshments, while a band to play in the evening.

“It looks like the weather is going to be good to us, so we want to try and raise as much money as possible for the Huddersfield Town Foundation which, as people already know, is doing a lot of good work in and around the wider community.”
