DAVID MIRFIN is confident Town have turned the promotion corner.

The 20-year-old defender has battled his way back into the side and impressed in successive matches at right-back.

Now he's aiming for a strong finish to the campaign - with a glorious standard set exactly 12 months ago.

"We had a great finish to last season and that's what we've got to aim to do now," said Mirfin.

"Everyone knew we had to turn the corner sooner or later and, having taken six points out of six (going into the MK Dons game), we've got something to build on.

"It's been good to keep a couple of clean sheets as well, because that's something else we showed we were capable of doing a year ago, and now we've got to look to build."

James Hand yesterday helped the Republic of Ireland Under 21s beat Portugal 2-1 to win the Madeira Invitational tournament.

In last night's matches, Luton won 3-2 against Championship leaders Reading.

In League II, Northampton won 1-0 at home to Torquay United.
