Bradford City hot shot Nahki Wells is in Huddersfield Town's sights - but they could have to play the waiting game in their bid to land the Bermuda international for what could be a club-record fee.

And Kidderminster frontman Joe Lolley is also firmly on the radar , although any deal is unlikely to be sealed until after the Conference club's big FA Cup clash with Peterborough on Tuesday.

But Town, who host Millwall in the Championship tomorrow, have distanced themselves from a loan move for Manchester United's Italian frontman Federico Macheda.

No concrete offer has been made by Town for Wells , but sources suggest the club have registered their interest in a player they have long admired .

While midfielder Ollie Norwood continues to be linked with Celtic and striker Jon Stead with Sheffield United, I understand a move for Wells could stand alone.

Bradford say they have knocked back one bid, believed to be from Wolves, while other clubs are reported to be tracking the 23-year-old, who was a summer target of Peterborough.

Town won't want to be drawn into an auction for Wells, who has netted 15 goals this season and 53 in total since joining the Bantams in June 2011.

But while he is under contract until the end of next season, he has refused to even discuss an extension, and Bradford know his value will fall with each passing transfer window.

The League I club must balance getting the kind of fee they want for their prize asset with ensuring they have sufficient time to bring in a replacement.

The highest fee Town have ever paid is £1.2m to Bristol Rovers for striker Marcus Stewart in the summer of 1996.

Current 12-goal top scorer James Vaughan cost £600,000 when signed from Norwich during the close-season.

Wells, born in Hamilton, Bermuda, has followed the likes of Clyde Best and Shaun Goater by leaving the Caribbean country to make his mark in English football.

Having played for island clubs Dandy Town Hornets and Bermuda Hogges, he arrived in England in 2010 to attend a Leeds football academy.

He caught the eye while playing for Eccleshill United, Northern Counties East League rivals of Huddersfield's AFC Emley, and won a short-term deal at Carlisle.

When the Cumbrian club decided against renewing his contract, he joined Bradford - and has never looked back.

After notching 12 goals in 2011-12, Wells bagged 26 last season and the Bantams reached the Capital One Cup final and won promotion from League II.

Town were in the hunt for the 5ft 7in frontman a year ago, but Bradford's cup exploits meant they had less need to cash in at that stage .

Now things are different, and Wells, currently sidelined with a reported hamstring injury and unlikely to face Bristol City tomorrow, could swap claret and amber for blue and white.

Town are also targeting Lolley, 21, who has scored seven goals in 25 games for Kidderminster and is rated around the £250,000 mark.

The Black Country club are willing to sell, but with the prize of a trip to Premier League Sunderland up for grabs, want Lolley to play in their third-round cup replay at London Road.

Peterborough are also keen on the man who represented Britain in last summer's World University Games in Russia, adding an extra dimension to the tie.

Redditch-born Lolley earned a summer switch to Kidderminster on a one-year contract after scoring 88 goals in 83 appearances for Midlands minnows Littleton.
