Nahki Wells wants to keep taking penalties for Huddersfield Town.

The Bermudian striker passed the 12-year test with flying colours as he bagged a Capital One Cup hat trick at Chesterfield on Tuesday.

And should Town get another spot kick at Cardiff City today or Reading on Tuesday, he wants to the chance to add to his goal tally.

Adam Clayton, who has joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough and could make his debut at Leeds today, was last season’s penalty taker.

And Wells said: “Now Adam’s gone, I want the job.

“I took penalties at Bradford and had a pretty good ratio of success.

“Last season Adam was taking them, and as the new boy on the block, I couldn’t expect to get the job straight away.

“This time, I said I wanted to take them, and I think striker should do that.

“I want goals, however they some, and if me scoring helps the team win, all the better.”

Mark Lillis will be back in the dug-out tomorrow after guiding Town to victory at Chesterfield and has confirmed he will also be in charge for Tuesday’s visit to Reading.

“It’s good the have that continuity, and we’ll sit down and review where we are next Wednesday,” he said.

“Cardiff is the main thing at this stage, and we’re looking forward to it.

“They are a big club with a strong squad and I guess we are underdogs.

“But we are a Championship side with quality players, and our aim is to go there and compete.

“It’s going to be a big occasion, so let’s embrace the challenge.”

Lillis could hand a Town debut to new £750,000 midfield signing Jacob Butterfield.

Town’s Capital One Cup second-round clash at home to Nottingham Forest will be on Tuesday, August 26 (7.45).

Admission will be £15 adults; £10 over 60s and £5 under 18s.
