Mark Hudson says Huddersfield Town need to ‘man up’ if they are to avoid four successive league defeats for the first time in more than 14 years.

The skipper admits Chris Powell’s squad face a crunch week on the training ground as they prepare for Saturday’s Championship game at Birmingham City.

Town are 16th in the table after defeats at Charlton Athletic and Brentford were followed by a 2-0 home loss against Rotherham United.

Not since the 2000-01 campaign, when they were relegated from the second tier, have Town suffered four defeats in the league on the spin.

“We’re an honest bunch, and we know the past three performances haven’t been anything like good enough,” said Hudson, who was signed from Cardiff City in the August transfer window.

“After the two defeats in London, we talked about producing a much steelier performance against Rotherham, but it didn’t happen.

“We just didn’t compete properly and we certainly didn’t pass the ball the way we can. We let Rotherham bully us, and we need to ‘man up’, and fast.

“Last week was horrendous for us, and we can’t keep wilting under pressure. All of us need to stand up and be counted.

“We have more than enough in our squad to be winning games, but not if we don’t do the basic things properly.

“It’s going to be a big week on the training ground, because we have plenty to put right before we go to Birmingham.”

Gary Rowett’s Birmingham are 14th, four points better off than Town and seeking a third win in four.
