Neil Warnock is ready to bring Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson, who both played under him at Huddersfield Town in the mid-nineties, to Crystal Palace.

But reports suggest Mick Jones, Warnock’s second-in-command at Town and a number of other clubs, has turned down the chance of a Selhurst Park stint.

Warnock, 65, freshly appointed Palace manager for a second spell, led Town to promotion from League I in 1995 after signing keeper Blackwell and striker Jepson.

Blackwell, who had previously played under Warnock at Scarborough, Notts County and Torquay United, cut his coaching teeth while at Town.

He later worked with Warnock at Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield United before breaking away in 2003 to work at Leeds United, whom he eventually managed.

The 55-year-old, who was back-up keeper to Steve Francis at Town, has also bossed hometown club Luton Town, Sheffield United and Bury.

Jepson, 51, scored 42 goals in 125 games for Town after signing from Exeter City in December 1993.

He former an effective frontline partnership with Andy Booth and later had a stint as coach at Town under Stan Ternent.

Jepson, who has managed Gillingham and Bury, worked alongside Warnock during his first spell at Palace and also at QPR and Leeds.

Palace host Burnley on Saturday with Warnock targeting a first Premier League win of the season after a 3-3 draw at Newcastle United in his opening game.
