Kasey Palmer says he’s ready to take the Huddersfield Town challenge - on and off the pitch.

The Chelsea and England Under 21 midfielder has joined the John Smith’s Stadium club on a season-long loan.

And the South London teenager says his switch to West Yorkshire has real appeal.

Palmer, 19, received a glowing Town reference from England Under 21 teammate Ben Chilwell, who spent time on loan from Leicester City last season.

But he said a pep talk from head coach David Wagner had won him over in any case.

“I liked what the manager had to say about the club and about what he wanted from me,” said Palmer.

“As soon as we met and I looked around, I felt this was the right place for me.

“It’s a big challenge because I am moving up from development to men’s football.

“But I feel I am ready to take the next step.”

Palmer, twice an unused substitute at Premier League level for Chelsea after an impressive season at Under 21 level, added: “I will be moving away from family and friends.

“But living on my own - and thing like cooking and washing for myself - will be another useful experience.

“Ben (Chilwell) said they are a great group of lads here and that there are some nice places to live in the area.

“I can’t wait to get going.”
