Reports in Germany suggest Dynamo Dresden captain Michael Hefele could be on his way to England - and inevitably, links with Huddersfield Town have followed.

The 25-year-old central defender skippers Dresden in Germany’s third tier.

David Wagner’s presence, and recent confirmation that German left-back Chris Löwe will join the club this summer , means Town are being linked with a number of players in their head coach’s homeland.

The boss’s contacts mean the Bundesliga pyramid is likely to be a focus for Town’s recruitment and media speculation is now ramping up a gear.

Hefele, who stands at over 6ft 3in tall, was born in Pfaffenhofen in Bavaria and has been with 3.Liga side Dresden since 2014.

He has three goals in 33 league appearances this season.

Town have also been linked with goalkeeper Hendrik Bonmann, but those reports seem wide of the mark.

The 22-year-old spent his youth career with Schalke 04 among others, and has been with Borussia Dortmund, Wagner’s former employers, since 2013.
