Current players and former stars have joined Huddersfield Town fans in celebrating the derby victory over Leeds United.

The 4-1 victory at Elland Road makes for a happy international break over Easter, especially for those Town fans returning to work alongside their Leeds-supporting colleagues.

Ex-Town favourite Darren Bullock was quickly onto Facebook to declare: “Well happy for all you Town fans.

“Great result against Leeds - upwards and onwards!”

While Kyle Dempsey was in for rehabilitation to his damaged calf – “Try to get this calf back 100%” he Tweeted – and Jake Charles was saying how much he was looking forward to joining up with the Wales Under 21 squad for matches against Bulgaria and Romani, Joe Lolley put his reaction to Town’s win very simply indeed.

Here's a new video of the Town celebrations:

“I, for one, have had a great weekend,” said Lolley, who won a penalty which Nahki Wells missed before Leeds took the lead through Stuart Dallas before being hit by strikes from Mark Hudson, Harry Bunn, Karim Matmour and Wells.

Supporters are similarly happy as the cut-price season-card deal continues to rake in money at £179 for the 2016-17 campaign.

On the Examiner’s Huddersfield Town Facebook page, Darren Wormald said: “Now that’s why Wagner is a blessing.

“Honestly, I hand on heart thought ‘for goodness sake here we go again’ when Leeds scored, but the attitude of the players and staff now is gearing for something big next season.”

Richard, from Paddock, exclaimed: “Brilliant!

“I think we have a manager who is a cut above the rest in his thinking and systems.

“With the backing of the club, who knows what dizzy heights we can reach in seasons to come.”

Neil, based in Holmfirth, added: “That was as good a display as you’ll see all season.

“Wells ran their centre halves silly. Brilliant team performance – what else can you say? Wagner, Wagner, Wagner!

Attitude and passion were at the centre of Brighouse fan Paul’s reaction.

“The attitude and passion Wagner has instilled in our team since he’s been here is second to none,” he said.

“Great result. On another day we could have capitulated, but I can safely say that because of the football we are displaying at the moment I knew we would win.

“Morale, confidence, we passed them off their own park and gave them a walloping as well.

“Exciting times ahead. The Wagner revolution is in full effect!”

Richard, from Kirkburton, messaged: “Absolutely awesome. Falling behind after a penalty miss, thoughts of a long dismal afternoon came to mind. How wrong we were.

“What fight, teamwork and skill, Town were brilliant. Wagner is a fantastic manager.”

Allan, a supporter from Liversedge, pointed out: “In the first half Town were good, but in the second half they were magnificent .

“That has to be the best atmosphere I have been in for some time. Congratulations to the team and David Wagner.”

Danny, in Outlane, beamed: “A fantastic performance!

“When Town get it right we’re a very good side. It was a comfortable win, especially against Leeds is extra special.

“David Wagner got it spot on, subs were good and also Leeds folding up in second half was marvellous.”
