It’s a scenario both the head coach and the player are keen to avoid.

And the 28-year-old has managed to steer clear of a caution in the last two games.

There are 10 more matches for Lynch to negotiate before the 10 bookings cut-off point.

But Wagner would far rather he focused on defending rather than escaping a possible ban.

“It’s something to be aware of, but I want Joel to keep playing in the same style,” he said.

“If the booking comes, it comes, and with Mark Hudson and Martin Cranie, we have other good options.”

Skipper Hudson recently served a two-match ban for 10 bookings while Cranie is on five.

Town are seeking successive clean sheets for only the second time this season.
