Dean Hoyle says Huddersfield Town won’t be rushed in their recruitment drive ahead of the new season.

The owner-chairman is determined to get good value as manager Mark prepares for the club’s third campaign in the second tier since the play-off success of 2012.

“It’s already been said that the market is generally quiet, and that remains the case,” said Hoyle.

“We have two through the door in Lee Peltier and Joe Murphy, and we have other targets.

“But we will take our time to make sure the deals are right for the club.

“That is certainly the case with Joe and Pelts.”

Keeper Murphy has agreed a two-year contract after leaving Coventry while ex-Leeds player Peltier returns for a second spell on a three-year deal.

And Hoyle added: “Joe is a good keeper who will provide proper competition for Alex Smithies.

“With Pelts, we know we are getting a good player who feels at home here.

“He offers versatility and experience, and at 27, he is coming to his prime.

“Things might not have worked out for him at Leeds, but he skippered them and did well on loan at Nottingham Forest last season.

“Other clubs were interested, but I think he was only interested in coming here.

“As a club, we did well out of Lee, because he brought in £1m when he joined Leicester (in 2011).

“We are getting him back on a free transfer, and he is a more rounded and mature player.”

Town will unveil their new home kit tomorrow.
