Rumours linking Huddersfield Town with Charlton Athletic’s Morgan Fox appear wide of the mark.

The claims have only surfaced after the loan of Jason Davidson to Dutch side FC Groningen.

The Australian international’s switch to the Eredivisie club, who have a clause to make the deal permanent, has left Chris Lowe as the only senior specialist left-back at Town.

Head coach David Wagner, who has guided Town to the top of the early Championship table, is known to want two options for every position.

The boss wants cover for both injuries and possible suspensions - and Lowe already has two yellow cards, with five bringing a one-match ban.

Transfer deadline day (August 31) is getting ever closer, but sources say Wales Under 21 international Fox is not a target.

The academy product, now 22, has made 91 appearances, many of them in the Championship, for Charlton.

They have already fought off interest from Birmingham City in a player contracted to 2018.

Davidson was a starter as Groningen were beaten 4-3 at home to Twente Enschede on Sunday.
