Former Huddersfield Town striker Tom Denton has joined North Ferriby United.

The 24-year-old is one of four close-season signings for the Conference North club and featured in Saturday’s 2-0 friendly win over Lincoln United.

Denton, also a prominent Drakes Huddersfield League cricketer with Shepley, has moved from Worksop Town.

They have just dropped from the Northern Premier League to the Northern Counties East.

Denton caught the eye playing for Wakefield in the Northern Premier, joining Town in a three-year contract in 2008.

He was unable to break into the first team, and had loan spells at Woking, Wakefield and Cheltenham before agreeing a contract settlement in 2010.

Since then, he has played for Mossley, Alfreton and Worksop.

North Ferriby have also brought in former Hull, Derby, QPR, Millwall and Burton midfielder Adam Bolder, ex-Grimsby striker Tom Corner and Harrogate Town winger Dan Clayton.

Rob Boardman, who netted 29 goals for Wakefield last season, has joined Ossett Town.

Wakefield, who were due to share the Welfare Ground with AFC Emley, are expected to officially fold this week.

Ossett will be among Brighouse Town’s rivals in the Northern Premier League First Division North, from which Wakefield were relegated last season.

Salford City were said to be keen on signing Boardman.
