Huddersfield Town went down 3-1 to League 1 Oldham in their penultimate first team friendly on Saturday.

Two goals in the first half followed by one just a few minutes after Nahki Wells had notched for Town meant disappointment for the 450-odd Town fans who attended.

Smithies - Helpless to prevent the first and saved a penalty before Oldham tucked home the second on the rebound. By no means faultless, but Clarke-Harris' wonder goal summed things up for the keeper. Nothing he could do. 6

Crooks
- Has been the breakthrough star of Town's pre-season but struggled against the pace and invention of Forte and Clarke-Harris. Replaced at the interval. 5

Peltier - Gave away the penalty but looked hard done to for his challenge on the effervescent Clarke-Harris but his positioning for the opener was dubious. 5

Lynch - Was let down by those around him at times but kept trying and pushing out from the back in an attempt to get his side forward. 6

Hammill - Unable to contribute enough in the final third but service to the flanks was often not quick enough. His frustrations boiled over with a rash challenge before being replaced. 5

Clayton - Showed flashes of his ability in midfield but it was all too intermittent and he was guilty of wasting possession on a few occasions. Started brightly but could not sustain the early midfield tempo he was setting. 6

Norwood - Like his central midfield partner, the Northern Ireland international displayed a vast array of passing but his influence was limited and his first-half miss proved costly. 6

Majewski - On his first start since arriving from Nottingham Forest, the Pole showed some good touches and appreciation of his teammates' movement but could not repeat his midweek heroics. 6.

Dixon - Allowed Brian Wilson in behind him to tee up the opener and never truly recovered. Also found himself out of position for the Latics' third of the contest. 5

Wells - Will be delighted to have notched but it was an otherwise frustrating afternoon for the speedy hitman as he struggled to lead the line effectively enough, although the supply line did not offer sufficient assistance. 6

Scannell - Started with a point to prove, dragging defenders one way or the other with a succession of crafty runs but fluffed his lines in front of goal more than once. 6

Substitutes:

Smith - Hardly put a foot wrong after emerging from the bench and kept things moving when in charge of possession. Can be pleased with his contribution. 6

Ward - Introduced at the break to help Town add some creative spark to their attacks but despite his endeavours, his fitness appeared lacking. 5

Lolley - Replaced Hammill and showed greater adventure and ambition during his brief stay in the pitch. Came close with a wicked left-foot shot just wide of the far post. 6

Sinnott - Thrown on in the aftermath of Town's goal but then watched as Clarke-Harris put the game beyond the Terriers and he was barely able to get going as a result. 5

Wallace - Only came on for the closing stages but struggled against the physical presence of William Gros. Appeared hurried and uncomfortable when required to combat the substitute striker's threat. 5

Carroll - Not on long enough to grab any headlines. 5

Holmes - Only notable piece of action was his drive at the Oldham defence in the final throes but it proved futile as his resultant pass found an offside award. 5
