OLIVER NORWOOD helped Huddersfield Town to an FA Cup third-round win at Championship rivals Charlton and urged his teammates: “Now let’s follow it up in the league.”

Simon Grayson’s 17th-placed side host Birmingham and former manager Lee Clark on Saturday buoyed by a first win in 11 matches.

Jermaine Beckford struck in the 11th minute to clinch a 1-0 victory at The Valley, where Charlton had centre-back Dorian Dervite red carded in the 57th minute for a professional foul on the Town striker.

And Northern Ireland midfielder Norwood said: “After that (6-1) defeat at Leicester, we had to be right back at it, and I thought we were.”

Town had 499 supporters in a 6,657 crowd in South London and Norwood added: “We were rightly criticised on New Year’s Day and we owed our supporters a win.

“It was good to deliver, but we know we have to kick on and continue to hit the required standard.

“It’s all about getting back to where we were earlier in the season – being vibrant and energetic and working hard with and without the ball – and this was a start.”

Aberdeen’s 18-year-old winger Ryan Fraser is the latest player to be linked with Town, while striker Kallum Higginbotham has been training with Motherwell.
