Huddersfield Town are being linked with a move for Manchester City striker Jordi Hiwula, but face competition for his signature.

Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers are both in the hunt for the 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at League One duo Yeovil Town and Walsall.

Hiwula has just a year left on his contract and is a player familiar to the coaching staff at Town, with both Steve Eyre and Frankie Bunn knowing of the Manchester-born forward's talents.

But what sort of player is Hiwula and what can Town supporters expect to see if they can beat off fellow suitors to land the City man?

We spoke to Manchester Evening News writer Simon Bajkowski, who regularly covers Manchester City's Under-21 side, to get the lowdown on the latest Town target.

Jordi Hiwula first came onto the radar of the City first team at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Coming on in a friendly in Abu Dhabi, the striker drew a foul in the box, dusted himself off and put away the penalty.

It was coolly done by a player nicknamed 'deckchair' at secondary school for his laid-back attitude.

A United fan growing up, Hiwula has worked hard to stay in the City academy while the club's ambition has skyrocketed.

Now 20, the striker is a pacy forward with a strong left foot, and has enough physical presence not to be pushed around in the Championships.

He had two loan spells in League One last season in his first taste of competitive football, both very different.

At Yeovil he didn't settle and rarely featured, but the second half of the season at Walsall was more fruitful.

The striker managed nine goals in 19 appearances, including a trip to Wembley for the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

What sort of player is Jordi Hiwula?

He's a goalscorer. Like every forward he likes nothing better than putting the ball in the net, it was one of the big frustrations of his loan spell at Yeovil.

He has a nice touch, a strong left foot and can challenge defender in a foot race or in the air.

The youngster still has room to develop but already has an impressive highlights reel.

How would you describe his style in three words?

Pacy, powerful and instinctive.

Hiwula played in a wide role at times at Walsall, are his talents best served down the middle though?

He is best served as a striker, but his pace and his upbringing at City allows him to play across the forward line.

The youth teams play with a front three and the players are encouraged to challenge themselves tactically by adapting to different positions.

Do you believe he can thrive at Championship level?

As with any young player there will always be question marks until potential is turned into proven worth.

He has made it this far in a very talent City academy, his experience at Walsall showed he is quick to adapt and can score goals in English football.

The Championship is an unforgiving division with a lot riding on it though, so the manager would need to show faith in the player.
