PAWEL ABBOTT makes his 50th League appearance for Town tonight charged with firing them to safety in the wake of Delroy Facey's dramatic transfer to Oldham.

Loan man Facey moved from Hull to Boundary Park just seconds before yesterday's deadline despite efforts by Peter Jackson to keep him on loan until the end of the season.

Jackson did not attempt to sign a replacement, so Abbott partners Andy Booth against Hartlepool (7.45) as Town bid to avoid a worst away League run in 42 years of eight successive defeats.

"It's a bit of a disappointment to lose out on Delroy, but we just couldn't reach agreement and he went to Oldham on an 18-month contract," said Jackson.

"We now have extra leeway to add to our squad in summer and enough incentive for the strikers here to really show me what they can do.

"Pav reaches a milestone tonight and with 26 goals in his 49 games so far for the club - which is a great scoring ratio - he will be keen to get Hartlepool on the back foot by hitting his best form again."

Non-contract signing Danny Adams will not be in the starting line-up after lacking preparation.

Town last lost eight away games on the trot in 1963-64.
