Huddersfield Town fell to a 1-0 FA Cup third-round defeat to Championship rivals Reading as 2015 got off to the worst possible start for Chris Powell and his side.

In a game of very few chances, the Royals secured a place in round four thanks to Nick Blackman's second-half strike as he cashed in on poor defending from Town captain Mark Hudson to crash home midway through the second half.

Town's best chance fell to James Vaughan, who nodded over the bar from close range while Nahki Wells also went close on two occasions and the Terriers' misery was compounded late on with the sending off of Jonathan Hogg for a second yellow card.
