Huddersfield Town fell to a late 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough as Grant Leadbitter's stoppage-time penalty got Chris Powell's reign at the club off to the worst possible start.

Town trailed to a stunning 35-yard free-kick from Boro captain Leadbitter but rallied in the second period and equalised with just five minutes left through substitute Jonathan Stead, who had looked to secured a share of the spoils.

But Leadbitter tucked home from the spot after Tommy Smith hauled back Adam Reach as Powell and debutant Mark Hudson lost in their respective first games at the club.
