Huddersfield Town will face AFC Bournemouth on the opening day of the Championship season after the fixtures were announced this morning.

It is a repeat of Town's opening-day clash in the 2001/2002 season when Kenny Irons' strike was enough to seal all three points and the Terriers will be hoping for similar success this time around, having not won their last three opening-day fixtures.

The August 9 opener against the Cherries will pit Town against a side which finished in the top half in 2013/2014 and it is quickly followed up by the midweek trip to Chesterfield for the Capital One Cup opener.

Away days at promotion favourites Cardiff City and a side that narrowly missed out on the play-offs last term in Reading come thick and fast, with the trip to the Madejski Stadium scheduled for a 8pm kick-off on Tuesday, August 19.

The final two games of Town's opening five fixtures are at home to Charlton Athletic and Watford away, where Town rounded off their 2013/2014 season with a thumping 4-1 win.

We want to know how many points you think Town will gain from their first five matches in 2014/2015. There certainly looks to be a few tests in there, but the home games in particular look eminently winnable.

Take our poll below to have your say on how Town will fare across their opening quintet of fixtures in the new season.
