Conor Coady hailed fellow Huddersfield Town midfielder Jacob Butterfield as he looked forward to Saturday’s final home Championship showdown with Blackburn Rovers.

Former Middlesbrough player Butterfield is a leading contender for the club’s Player of the Season award after a string of bright performances for Chris Powell’s 15th-placed side.

The former Barnsley and Norwich City player has made 44 appearances and scored five goals since joining in mid-August.

And Coady said: “He’s a top player and a real handful for opponents.

”Give Jacob the ball and he makes things happen.

“We knew he was a good player when he came in and he hasn’t disappointed.

“I have learned a lot from playing alongside him.

“We have some very creative players like Jacob, Harry Bunn and Sean Scannell.

“We also have strikers who on their day can hurt any defence in the Championship.

“Our form of late has been good and we want to continue it against Blackburn.”

Town are chasing a first win in 10 attempts against the Ewood Park side.

Their last victory overt them was in a Championship clash in August 1999.

There was an own goal by future Town manager Simon Grayson while Marcus Stewart and Rob Edwards were also on target in the 3-2 victory.

Blackburn gained a much-needed win on Tuesday night as they beat struggling Millwall 2-0 to end a run of four games without a victory in all competitions.
