GOLCAR-based Sunday League outfit Walkers Arms opted to switch their West Riding FA Sunday Cup-tie into an away fixture - and it paid off.

Ian Lockwood's defending holders chose to forfeit home advantage and travel to Crossgates, after having had their last two home games called off due to waterlogging, and the brave gamble proved a good call when they moved through to the last 16 with an emphatic 4-1 victory.

The trip to Leeds did not deter the Walkers who romped into a 4-0 lead at the break with a brace each for in-form strikers Adam Johnson and Andrew Allison.

Crossgates pulled a goal back after the break but the Walkers cruised through.

The tie was the only match to be played in the Sunday League after Kirklees Council had postponed all fixtures due to heavy, persistent rain last week.

In the Kirklees Sunday League, however, one match was played - and it allowed Marsh United to extend their lead at the top to six points after a 5-2 win against seventh-placed Pak Rangers.

The game got the go-ahead after Marsh reorganised a home match to take advantage of their privately-owned pitch which was in good condition.

Marsh stormed into a 4-0 lead with Grant Slater opening the scoring before Jason Proctor headed home a corner from six yards out soon afterwards.

Adam Laverick made it 3-0 on 25 minutes when, after picking the ball up just inside Pak's half, he surged forward unchallenged and unleashed a left foot shot which beat the goalkeeper from 25 yards.

Marsh added a fourth from the penalty spot by man-of-the-match Slater after Gary Lumb had been tripped in the area.

Abdul Leftisi pulled a goal back for Pak before the break and reduced the deficit to 4-2 in the second half but Proctor added Marsh's fifth on 75 minutes.
