RAY PARLOUR is the latest big name to appear at Lepton Highlanders.

The former Arsenal ace will be the chief guest at the ambitious Huddersfield club’s sportsman’s evening next Thursday, March 15.

He follows the likes of Paul Merson, Neil Ruddock and Lee Sharpe, who have appeared in recent years.

Tickets are £20, including supper, and available from manager Jimmy Martin on 07966 374632.

Martin has built a strong squad and is on course to guide the former District League club to a second successive promotion, this time to the West Riding County Amateur League top flight.

Lepton go into tomorrow’s home game with Ventus/Yeadon Celtic four points clear at the top of Division I and with a game in hand on nearest rivals Salts.

Martin’s men are also through to three semi-finals.

In the West Riding FA Challenge Cup, they take on Clitheroe-based Rimington at Woodlesford on Wednesday, April 4.

In the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup, Works League Aimbry or District League Scholes will be their opponents.

And in the Division I Cup, Tuesday’s 6-2 win against AFC Emley Reserves clinched a tie against Hunsworth.

“We’ve got nine league games to go, so we’re just hoping our cup exploits don’t impact on the main objective of getting to the Premier Division,” said Martin, who has lost keeper Danny Armitage to a broken leg and goal-getter JP Flynn to illness.
