Huddersfield Town fans have revealed their thoughts on the first-team squad by choosing what they consider to be the strongest starting XI from the resources available.

And there are certainly some interesting selections, with five of the club's seven summer signings forming a new-look Town side which is supplemented by the presences of two wingers in good form of late.

Chris Powell takes charge of his first match as Town boss against Middlesbrough on Saturday and will surely have some idea by now of who will feature in his inaugural starting lineup, but the fans have done him a favour by naming theirs as one.

Deadline-day purchase Mark Hudson gets the nod in central defence with the highest share of any individual vote with a mammoth 85.78%, but which other close-season acquisitions have been voted as worthy of a place in the XI and who are the other six players?

Formation of Huddersfield Town fans' strongest XI

Town fans voted for a traditional 4-4-2 as the choice of formation, which underlines the good work of interim manager Mark Lillis between Mark Robins' exit and Powell's arrival.

A huge 60.32% of fans believe this is the setup which Powell should employ, while the only two other formations to prove popular were the midfield diamond of a 4-1-2-1, which fans saw first-hand in the 3-1 defeat at Cardiff City, receiving 13.4% of the vote and 4-3-3 (12.6%).
