Blackpool were fully deserving of their 3-1 first leg victory over the Terriers and they might have had a completely unassailable lead had chances from John O'Kane and Scott Taylor gone in.

The Terriers had Kevin Gray, Nathan Clarke, and Gareth Evans for some last ditch goal-line clearances to keep the scoreline respectable in the last 10 minutes.

Town were off to a bad start when Richie Wellens' shot appeared to come off Steve Jenkins on its way into the back of Martyn Margetson's net as early as the 3rd minute.

Lou Macari's side had little to offer in the first half as they defended deep once again and invited pressure from the Tangerines - pressure which they were only too happy to provide.

Despite all this, Danny Schofield's diagonal shot came off the bar and Andy Booth shot straight at Phil Barnes while Leon Knight proved a handful once again - going close after co-operation from Schofield and getting past two players before testing Barnes.

Kenny Irons went close himself but the Terriers were stunned when John Murphy rose to meet Paul Simpson's cross and beat Martyn Margetson in the 37th minute.

Town's defenders had been cut right out by the cross and Town were frustrated by the hard working home side as they spent the rest of the first half trying to pull once back.

The second half was much better from a positive Town side and they pulled one back when Kenny Irons and Leon Knight combined and Knight crossed for Schofield who slotted an easy looking goal past Barnes.

Town should have capitalised on the momentum but instead they gifted the dangerous Martin Bullock a free run down his right flank.

He beat a couple of defenders and crossed for Scott Taylor to make it 3-1.

The Terriers could have fought on to make it 3-2 but found Blackpool in no mood to sit back and they spent the last few minutes of the match trying to stop the Tangerines from extending their lead.
