Kyle Dempsey drilled in his first Huddersfield Town goal but admitted a 4-2 Championship defeat at Brentford dampened his satisfaction.

The former Carlisle United midfielder was one of two half-time changes made by David Wagner, whose side were trailing 3-0.

Joe Lolley quickly pulled a goal back before a controversial penalty allowed the Londoners to go 4-1 ahead.

Dempsey’s strike came in stoppage time and capped a bright performance by the 20-year-old.

“I’ve been working on taking my chances, so I was pleased to get the goal,” said the £300,000 summer signing.

“But that achievement was spoiled by the result, and it was just a consolation.

“Things might have been different if it hadn’t been for their penalty, because we were playing okay at that point.

“At least in the second half we showed more of what we are about, but the final result was a real disappointment.”
