MARSH UNITED, last season’s champions, have been forced to withdraw from the League.

The shock move has been forced on the club due to lack of players.

Ironically, last year’s Division I champions started out with two teams due to the large size of their squad, but when things did not work out, they first had to fold their second string in the Sunday League and now their Kirklees side have bitten the dust despite valiant efforts to try and keep going.

The expungement of Marsh’s results and other points adjustments leaves a new-look Division I table.

In the first week of inter-divisional games, Pak Rangers are the new leaders of Division I after they beat Division II outfit Clothiers 9-0.

It was only 3-0 at half time, but Rangers stepped it up in the second half.

Abdul Leftisi (4) and Rehan Safeer (3) led the way, with Shahid Mohammed and Kulvinder Singh each adding one.

Britannia moved up to second spot after a 4-2 win over lowly Division II side Helion.

Nine-man Britannia battled well for the victory with influential central midfielder Josh Redshaw grabbing all four goals in the first half.

Britannia’s defence was held together by the outstanding Daniel Walker, Kieren Lenihan, Matthew Trebble and Simon Kent.

In frontŠof them was a hard-working three-man midfield featuring Roy Gilpin, Ryan Lach and man-of-the-match Redshaw, leaving Darren Jordan up front who worked tirelessly all game.

Helion’s goals, in either half, were created after taking advantage of defensive lapses but otherwise they were forced to long range efforts which didn’t trouble goalkeeper Clayton-Smith.

Division II leaders Waterloo BC’s 100% record went after a surprise 4-2 defeat against Division I basement side Field Head. A below-par Waterloo side struggled to come to terms with the sloping pitch at Royds Hall and the home team took full advantage.

Field Head took an early lead but Waterloo struck back with a Tom Mitchell penalty and then took the lead when in-form Neil Boustead headed in a near-post corner.

The home side equalisedŠbefore the break and then a goalkeeping error gifted them the lead after the break.

Despite numerous chances Waterloo couldn’t take control of the game and conceded again as Field Head hit them on the break.

Woodfield Park edged past Division II high-fliers First Huddersfield 3-2.

Oliver Hughes hit two great goals for Park, with veteran Dave Poole notching Woodfield’s winner who have signed many of Marsh’s players.

Craig Fellows and Paul Nuttall scored for the busmen.

Craven thrashed Division II outfit Real Dalton 11-2 with Matt Butters and John Conheeny (who also missed a penalty) leading the scoring with four goals each.
