Huddersfield Town travel to League One outfit Shrewsbury Town tonight for the first round of this season's English Football League Cup.

After an encouraging 2-1 opening weekend victory over Brentford at the John Smith's Stadium, manager David Wagner will be keen to see his side gain some further early season momentum at the New Meadow Stadium.

The encounter will also be the first time the two sides have met since 1995 when the Shrews ran out 2-1 winners - a game remembered for then-Town manager Neil Warnock's half-time dressing room rant in front of TV cameras.

Ahead of the clash, the Examiner caught up with Glyn Price from Shrewsbury Town's Blue & Amber Fanzine to get his thoughts on the cup clash.

Happy with Shrewsbury's pre-season? How do you think the side will do this season?

Pre-season was a mixed bag, with two dispiriting 4-1 home defeats, a creditable 1-0 over Birmingham B, hammering one non-league team and losing to another.

It was not hard to tell this was a team that had been majorly overhauled and needed time to gel.

We then obviously lost at home on the opening day (1-0 to a ropey looking MK Dons side) and the doom mongers have already started in earnest.

How will we go? It’s really hard to tell, as yet a judgement on this team is hard to make. There are talented players in the squad but are the positions where we are weak going to hold us back?

I would like to think there is just about enough in the team to keep us up, but it might be close again!

Who is the player Huddersfield have to look-out for on Tuesday?

AJ Leitch-Smith (Right) in action for Shrewsbury Town - singled out as a player for Huddersfield to watch.

From the early opening exchanges, I would say one of Louis Dodds or AJ Leitch-Smith.

Both were poached from Port Vale last season and are consistent League One performers who stood out at the weekend.

They clearly have a good understanding of each others games having played together for the last few years and that may be key to us unlocking defences.

It has been a complete rebuild job for Salop over the summer - eight of the starting line-up on Saturday were new players, so it is going to take a while for our star players to stand out.

Obviously Town are in the league above but are there any player you'd most like in the Shrews team, and why?

Can I be honest and say, I don’t know all that much about Huddersfield!

I have always liked the look of Danny Ward though, even though I know he’s only on loan at the club. Most of you team would walk into our squad so can I say all of them?

What do you make of Huddersfield Championship chances this season?

Well considering the Championship is a pain to get out of you're going to have to be pretty special to get promotion.

Having had a look at your squad, there is plenty there to keep you up but its so hard to predict anything at this stage. At least you won your opening game - that helps get the confidence up from the off!

Best pre-match pub for Away Fans?

Visiting Shrewsbury nowadays is not the Mecca of great pubs it once was when we used to play at the Gay Meadow in the Town centre.

You're left now with two fairly depressing estate pubs - the Brooklands and the Darwin both a 15 minute walk from the ground. That’s about it

You might be better coming to the ground and visiting the Power League Bar on-site, which is a short walk from the entrance to the away end.

And don’t expect a Supporters Bar to welcome you either - despite having a brand new stadium our architects some how forgot to build that into the plans.

A ongoing gripe for us Salopians.

What are your memories of the sides' last meeting back in 1994/95 - did you see Neil Warnock's TV rant?

I was 13-years-old at the time and as such remember almost nothing about it although Warnock having a rant does not shock me.

In fact I just looked it up on YouTube…mental! No wonder he was raging though - you were going for promotion and in decent form and we had lost four on the spin and looked to be getting relegated! I bet your fans were just as angry as him.

Any Score Prediction?

This is where I can be positive - for some reason despite League struggles, Micky Mellon seems to be great at firing the side up for the cup!

The list of teams we have knocked out in the last three years is impressive (Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester, Blackburn, Cardiff, Blackpool, Norwich) and as such we don’t hold any fear in these games.

Despite our ropey home form over the past year I think a 2-1 win for Salop is not unachievable, and if you rest players, or are complacent you will come undone against our First Team like so many have before.
