SIMON GRAYSON has urged Huddersfield Town to keep focused on their own task during the run-in.

Twice a promotion winner as boss with Blackpool and Leeds United in this division, he says it’s important not to get distracted by other results and positions in the table.

“All we have to do is concentrate on what we need to get done,” said Grayson, who has Calum Woods and Anton Robinson fit again and under consideration for selection against Charlton today.

“For the rest of the season, our aim has to be to win as many as we can and not think about anyone else – that way we will have a great chance of being promoted.

“First and foremost, we have to concentrate on what we are doing, because the pressure really is on those above us to stay there.”

Grayson added: “I know from experience that when you are in the top two, those places are yours to lose. Everyone knows that if you match the teams below you, you will be promoted. But it’s easier said than done – that’s why the best time to go second is a minute before the season ends, although it’s no good for the ticker!”

Grayson decided not to add further to his squad as the loan transfer window closed on Thursday.

He had previously brought in Diego Arismendi from Stoke and decided to allow Kallum Higginbotham to go out to Barnsley on loan for the rest of the season – but only with a recall within 28 days.

“Kallum came to me and said he hadn’t been playing because of people in front of him (in the pecking order) and asked if he could go out on loan,” explained Grayson.

“He wants to play first-team football and all credit to him. Some players are happy to sit on the bench or in the stand and just pick up their wages, but not Kallum.

“We told his agent that we would make him available for loan and he has fixed up a fantastic opportunity for him at Barnsley.

“If Kallum goes there and gets some match experience and goals then we will have a very decent player to come back to us.

“And he will be available for later in the run-in should we get injuries and suspensions in the strikers.”
