ANDY RITCHIE paid tribute to Frank Sinclair today as Town prepare for their biggest test of pre-season so far.
Defender Sinclair was man-of-the-match last night as Town beat Bradford Park Avenue 1-0 with an Andy Booth header to maintain a 100% tally in four friendlies.
That record will go on the line against League II Rochdale at Spotland on Saturday, but boss Ritchie is confident his squad are building solidly for the League I kick-off against Yeovil on Saturday, August 11.
“Frank Sinclair was outstanding last night,” said Ritchie, who gave a full 90 minutes to Nathan Clarke and played his brother, Tom, as a substitute.
“Frank was brilliant, as he has been in all the games we’ve had to this point.
“I just hope he keeps up this standard going into the League campaign because that’s what this is about for everyone – making sure we hit the ground running on August 11.”
Ritchie again employed Chris Brandon on the left wing and experimented with James Berrett and Shane Killock as full-backs.
“Avenue were lively and very competitive, with a few choice challenges going in, so it was a good test for us,” he said.
“It was a good build-up for the goal, another win is always nice and the most important thing is that everyone got some more productive minutes under the belts towards full fitness.
“We’re doing well, and now we have to step it up still further over at Rochdale.”
