A GOOD number of junior clubs are sitting pretty, two months into
the season. They still hold on to their 100% records, despite the fiercely
competitive nature of the RCD League. Three of the 100 percenters are in the Under 11 section and all were
comfortable winners at the weekend. YMCA head Division I and won 5-0 at fifth-placed Batley.
Skelmanthorpe, who lead Division III, were at home to Elland
Athletic and kept up their impressive record with a stunning 13-0 win. The goal rush was led by Gilfillan who grabbed seven.
In Division IV, Battyeford B were 7-4 winners over a determined
Dalton Dynamoes to make it six wins out of six. Warley Rangers have two reasons to be pleased.
The Calderdale club have two sides with unblemished records, the
Under 12s and the Under 13s. The former were at home to Scissett B last Sunday and rattled up an
amazing 24-0 win, taking their goal tally to 81 in just seven games. Their Under 13 side were also on the goal trail, winning 6-0 at
Howden Clough. Clifton Rangers Under 14 side held on to their 100% record but were
given a mighty fright in a thrilling local derby. They made the short journey to Rastrick and won 8-6 to open up a
three-point lead over Lepton Highlanders. In the same age groups, Division II leaders Junior Collegians were
5-1 winners at Dewsbury. The goals came from Moody (3), Theakston and Wrafter.
Elland Athletic Under 14s beat Westend 6-0 to keep up their campaign
while their Under 15 side made it eight wins out of eight with a 10-4 win at Bradford Eagles. In the Under 16 section Norristhorpe opened up a three-point lead
with a 7-1 home win over Lepton Highlanders, thanks to goals from Cawley (2), Wolmersley (2), Bentley, Potter and Gallen.
