Huddersfield Town defender Jon-Gorenc Stankovic has been called up by Slovenia Under 21s.

The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to add to his 10 existing caps in the Euro 2017 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland in Waterford on Friday, September 2.

Stankovic, 20, who has been in the full Slovenia squad without playing, has made one Town appearance since his £600,000 switch.

That was in the League Cup first-round defeat at Shrewsbury Town.

Slovenia are currently second in Qualifiyng Group 2, four point behind Italy after seven out of 10 games.

The nine group winners qualify for the 12-team finals in Poland.

The four best second-placed sides go into two-legged play-offs.

Stankovic is the third Town player to be given an international call.

Keeper Danny Ward will be with the full Wales squad and midfielder Aaron Mooy with Australia.
