EFE SODJE believes his major decision to drop from the World Cup to the Third Division will be fully justified on Monday.
The team captain earned promotions with Stevenage, Macclesfield and Crewe before heading to the 2002 World Cup with Nigeria.
His return to the Alexandra Stadium quickly turned sour, however, and he sought a new promotion challenge at the McAlpine this season.
"People questioned whether I was doing the right thing in coming to Huddersfield, but I thought all along we would win promotion," said the 31-year-old defender.
"I've experienced the World Cup, but this play-off final is something really special because you are going through it with your clubmates who you have worked with all season.
"It is really close to home and the team spirit is unbelievable.
"That's a credit to the coach and the manager because they brought everyone together at the outset and have worked tremendously hard to make it all work successfully.
"It's been great and we now just need to believe."
