FORMER Town manager Steve Bruce has pledged his future to Birmingham amid speculation he could move to Newcastle if Sir Bobby Robson decided to stand down.

Geordie Bruce is a massive Newcastle fan - but the man who has bossed five different clubs since moving into management with Sheffield United in July 1998 insisted that he has a long-term job to undertake with Blues, with whom he signed a new five-year contract last summer.

Bruce, who bossed Town between 1999 said: "Where these stories come from I don't know.

"It seems they are plucked from the air.

"I am as happy in management here as I have been. I thoroughly enjoy it. I signed a five-year contract last summer and the job here has only just begun.

"I feel this is insulting to Bobby Robson, who is one of the all-time best managers we've had.

"I just want to put everyone's mind at ease. I'm the manager here and it's a bit monotonous whenever these stories come up."

Birmingham visit Chelsea on Sunday.
