Martin Paterson is back at Huddersfield Town after making three appearances on loan to League I Fleetwood Town.

The Northern Ireland international striker’s stint has been cut short because of a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old had been due to stay on the West coast until January 3, although Town would have had a recall clause from December 12.

Fleetwood have now recalled forward Matty Hughes from a loan stint at Vanarama Conference side Chester.

Ex-Burnley man Paterson has made three substitute appearances for Town this season.

His return means Town have three players out on loan, striker Jon Stead at Bradford City, utility man Matt Crooks at Accrington Stanley and defender Jake Carroll at Partick Thistle.

Carroll made his 12th Thistle appearance in front of a 40,633 crowd in Wednesday’s 1-0 Scottish Premiership defeat at Celtic.
