Huddersfield Town's new head of football operations Stuart Webber has vowed to build on the foundations set in place by the man he has replaced - Ross Wilson.

Town announced the appointment of the former Wolves head of recruitment on Monday as the Scot's replacement, following his own switch to Premier League outfit Southampton.

And Webber is confident he can offer the club more opportunities to improve in the football operations department following his arrival.

“Here at Huddersfield there is of course a focus on recruitment and scouting, which is a massive part of my job, but I’ll also be supporting the academy, the medical department and the sports science operations,” he revealed.

“It’s a broader view of the entire club rather than simply recruitment.

Webber's role at the club will encompass various aspects.

“These functions work together and give the manager, coaches and players the best opportunity to perform well and win. This all needs planning and controlling in a coordinated way from day to day.

“There’s been a specific football operations role at Huddersfield Town for three seasons now, with Ross Wilson the first in charge.

“The opportunity to come and take it on was too good to turn down.

“I’m looking to come here and further develop and build on the great work that Ross has done.

“We want to be seen as leaders in our approach to football operations.”
